Building on a reputation for heavy lifting expertise in the renewable energy sector, Sarens recently completed lifting services for 18 GE 2.5 MW wind turbines at the Kovacica Wind Farm in Serbia. The 104,5 MW wind farm is one of the largest in the country and, valued at 189 million euros, a breakthrough for Serbia's renewable energy sector.
Sarens worked on behalf of CJR Renewables Limited D.O.O to lift the wind farm modules between September 2018 and February 2019. The lift included all wind turbine components, including tower sections, nacelles, and rotors.
For this operation three cranes were selected and mobilized from Poland, which took a full week to arrive with customs clearance. Sarens deployed the SL 3800-1, Explorer 5500, and AC 100-4L cranes for this job.
Initial on-site crane assembly took one week, with almost 35 trucks delivering the main crane components. It then took the crew two days to reposition the main crane from one pad to another for the different lifts. Crawler cranes have the advantage of being able to crawl from one position to the next, and during the execution of this project the main crane was never completely disassembled.
This project was flawlessly executed by four crane drivers, three riggers, one truck driver, and one site manager. Sarens thanks each of them for their commitment to completing excellent work on behalf of our clients.
