At the end of 2019, Sarens was involved in lifting a 210-tonne roof for a new diesel storage tank at the PERN S.A. fuel depot in Koluszki, Poland, as part of the country’s initiative to increase its energy security.

To execute the lift, Sarens used a Demag CC 3800-1 crawler crane in SWSL 1 165t + 50t + 320t / 42m + 36m configuration. The CC 3800-1 met all requirements for lifting operations, including lifting capacity and working radius. It was brought in from a previous project in Lithuania, with transport and unloading lasting about a week.

Working within a limited space at the construction site, the crew spent four days assembling the crane, carefully determining the slings for 15 attachment points. The CC 3800-1 then proceeded to lift the 210-tonne load, turn it, and store it at the place of assembly. The crane worked for 24 hours, and two operators, two fitters, and a site manager were involved in making this operation possible.

“Sarens Poland has been carrying out roof assembly of the tank with volume 32.000 square meters,” said client representative Renata Tuleja. “Sarens fulfilled its task without any reservations, in accordance with construction standards, and has overcome high technical requirements. Sarens employees provide professional services that we strongly recommend.”
