Sarens recently executed the successful marine transport of six newly-built bridges for Iemants NV in IJburg, Amsterdam. These new bridge models, three "2060" and three "2080" steel truss bridges, will improve accessibility for both road traffic and tramways once installed. The overall project was carried out on behalf of the Municipality of Amsterdam by Mobilis TBI and Iemants (Smulders group).

To transport each massive bridge along the waterways, Sarens used a barge and tugs as well as 24 axle line SPMTs with two power packs. The PJ250 and CS250 jacking system, as well as 120-tonne capacity auxiliary cranes, were also deployed for the operation.

Once transported via SPMTs onto the barge, the bridges then travelled from Zeeland to Amsterdam, arriving within one day. The team had to account for potential changes in weather as well as the water level in the harbour, but in the end the twelve crew members executed each move as planned.

Sarens is thrilled to have been part of this project and would like to thank our client for trusting us to be part of the team that made it happen!
