Sarens in France was honoured with the “Trophée Naval Group Partners Meeting – Santé et Sécurité au Travail” during the Naval Partners Meeting held on 27 November 2025. This recognition, awarded by Naval Group, highlights Sarens’ outstanding safety performance since 2023 and celebrates a remarkable milestone: 1000 days without a lost-time accident on one of the most demanding industrial programmes in France.
This is the third time Naval Group has distinguished Sarens for exemplary safety performance, following previous awards in 2013 and 2021. This year’s trophy underscores the strength and consistency of the partnership between the two companies, particularly on the Barracuda-class submarine construction programme at Naval Group’s Cherbourg site.
A Long-Term Partnership Built on Precision and Safety
Sarens has been supporting Naval Group in Cherbourg since 2007, delivering critical lifting, handling, and component transfer services essential to the assembly of the Barracuda submarines. The operational environment is highly complex and demands absolute precision: every movement matters, and there is no room for error.
To achieve this level of performance, Sarens has deployed a rigorous Safety Management System on site, led by two full-time safety managers whose mission is to embed Sarens’ safety culture across all teams. Through continuous supervision, clear procedures, and daily engagement with operational crews, Sarens ensures that every lift, manoeuvre, and transfer is executed with the highest level of control.
Although the project involves tens of thousands of handling movements per year, the exact operational figures remain confidential.
Celebrating the Teams Behind the Success
This achievement is first and foremost a tribute to the Sarens in France teams in Cherbourg—our riggers, lifting specialists, and crane operators—who have demonstrated professionalism, discipline, and unwavering commitment to safety over several years.
For Sarens in France and the wider Sarens Group, this distinction is a source of immense pride. It reaffirms our shared belief that safety is not an objective but a constant priority, shaping every decision and every action.
In our line of work—lifting and handling—there is no plan B. You have to get it right the first time. There is no room for doubt: better safe than sorry. We have now passed the milestone of 1.000 days without a lost-time accident on this Naval Group project, and we are now aiming for our client’s CAP 3.0 goals: 0 Accident, 0 Delay, 0 Quality Defect.
