Sarens and its divisions worldwide ensure that all their operations, projects, as well as everyday activities align to Sarens mission and values. One of our important values - ‘Dedication to Safety’ means ensuring that harm is not inflicted upon its employees, contractors, service providers, or the environment, Sarens assets, as well as members of the public affected by its operations, infrastructure and all operational activities within the scope of heavy lifting, special transport, assembly, disassembly, and maintenance in industry and infrastructure.

As part of the safety initiatives Samoco division held a training at the site of our client BASF in Antwerp, Belgium. The training and awareness program related to fire safety included both theoretical and practical sessions on the risks of being in the line of fire during lifting and rigging operations.

The session was attended by around 40 people from Samoco/Sarens and around 7 from the BASF transport department. According to one of the participants, “The training was very well organised and presented in an interesting way. The line of fire message was clearly communicated with a good mix of theory and practice. Congratulations for this best practice.”

One of our trainers, Koen Bordeaudhuy says, “Training sessions like these are a personal approach to communicate the importance of safety best practices. We also provide the participants with small manuals and divide them in groups for practical sessions for them to try out.” He adds, “The session was successful because of the support and encouragement from our client BASF”.

Patrick O'Brien, Team Lead Cranes and Rigging from BASF further says, “Thanks for the interactive toolbox. It was very well organised and presented in an interesting way. The Line of Fire message is very crucial and was clearly communicated during the session.”
