2017 is the year of transition towards a new SHEQ management of change within Sarens. It is the year of a new view and policy on Safety, Health, Environment and Quality.

The India office of Sarens celebrated the 46th National Safety Day with active participation of the management, employees and the workers at different project sites and yards in the country.

National Safety Day in India is organized on 4th March each year. The initiative is targeted at renewing the commitment of employees to perform their activities safely by minimising incidents throughout the year. The theme for 2017 as dedicated by the National Safety Council is, "Leadership in Safety and Health enhances business sustainability."

National Safety Council (NSC), India was set up by the Ministry of Labor, Government of India (GOI) on 4th March, 1966 to generate, develop, and sustain a voluntary movement on Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) on a national level. It is an APEX nonprofit making, tripartite body, registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950. The council has over 8500 active industry members.

The event was inaugurated at the corporate office in New Delhi where the day began with safety flag hoisting by the Regional Director, APAC, Navneet Jain accompanied by the Country Manager and the Regional Managers, followed by the safety pledge taken by all the employees. "Safe working is crucial for an organization as well as society and we should dedicate ourselves to the cause of safety both at professional and personal levels of our life," said Navneet Jain during his address to the employees.

SHEQ team organized poster making and a quiz competition focused on safety issues. All the employees enthusiastically participated in the competitions and winners were awarded during the prize distribution ceremony held in the evening.

The event was also celebrated in Sarens yards at Chennai and Jamnagar, including a GE work site at Aspari, Andhra Pradesh.  The SHEQ team distributed safety badges to the participants. Seminars were organized and the SHEQ team and representatives from the client addressed the staff on safety measures and procedures. All the operators at the site took the safety pledge and promised to adhere to the Sarens SHEQ policy.
