Luberef Yanbu Refinery is the largest crude oil refinery in the world. It is located on the Red Sea at Yanbu, near the city of Dhahran in Saudi Arabia. It was built on 165 hectares of land in the industrial park. The refinery is operated by Saudi Aramco Lubricating Oil Refining Company (Luberef). The refinery is engaged in the production of API Group I straight run grades.

Sarens Middle East performed the installation of a 176t PDA Extractor at the Luberf Yanbu refinery in March 2016. The greatest challenge was to operate in a live plant with less space available for the movement of the equipment.

Sarens deployed it's  Terex Demag CC-2800-1 (SSL), Terex Demag CC-1800 (SH) and Liebherr LTM-1090 to complete the task with utmost precision. The engineering team performed the best analysis on the dynamics of the site and formulated the most apt strategies to carry out the installation. With accurate engineering and site supervision, the lifting was completed within the stipulated time frame and all safety measures ensured.

The client was highly appreciative of the task performed and in words of Bryan L. Shoemaker, Sr, Head TFS Middle East, "Every individual within your organization who was involved with this project has been professional, supportive and dedicated to resolving the issues we faced in this challenging project without exception. You should be truly proud of your group and the representation they bestow to the industry on behalf of Sarens-Nass."
