The first Cranes and Transport Middle East (CATME) conference, organized by International Cranes and Specialized Transport magazine and KHL group, took place in Dubai on 8th December 2016. It was organized for the first time in Middle East as a part of International Cranes and Transport conferences which are held globally. The Middle East has left its mark on the heavy lifting industry due to its rapidly expanding infrastructure, construction, and oil sector.
Despite reducing oil prices, the construction and infrastructure markets of Middle East are growing at a considerable rate. Governments are investing in transport, utilities and ports which will drive the demand for heavy lifting and transport services. The Qatar 2022 World Cup and the Expo 2020 will further strengthen this growth.
The one-day conference saw a participation of 200 delegates. It was attended by the top players of the heavy lift and specialized transport industry, operating in the region. Key clients operating in the oil and gas, construction and infrastructure sectors also formed part of the event.
The conference was focused on addressing best practices for lifting and transport operations relating to:
Our Sales Manager Projects for Middle East and Asia, Philippe Verdeure addressed the delegates on creating a culture of safety in a lifting business. Safety has always been one of the core values at Sarens, forming part of all our policies, procedures, and operations.
