Sarens is celebrating two major wins at the Heavies Awards, an exclusive event that rewards contributions to the UK's heavy lifting industry. The Heavies spotlight the achievements of people across the industry, from operators to manufacturers and suppliers, and highlight outstanding innovation, service, efficiency and quality in the sector.

Sarens received two awards at this year's event:

  • Project of the Year, awarded for work on the Beatrice Wind Project. Sarens was the heavy lift contractor for the two main fabricators of the wind farm jacket substructures for the Beatrice Wind Farm in the North Sea. The Group had to work with two different build philosophies to meet the clients' needs, and utilised various heavy equipment, including an in-house designed, ring-based heavy lift crane with a lifting capacity of up to 3.200 tonnes. Sarens competed against five other companies for this award.

  • Highly Commended - Job of the Year BE16/VR1, awarded for work moving a colossal 350-tonne heater and box stack through the streets of Pembroke during its journey to Sweden. The 21-metre high load, which towered above property in the town, was navigated through to the port on a Sunday morning. Sarens competed against three other companies for this award.

Sarens operations manager Andrew Hunt and Sarens project manager Alister Smith received the awards. "This is a reflection of the great team work on behalf of Sarens UK Ltd.," they said. "Hard work and commitment have paid off!"
