Sarens, the global leader in crane rental services, heavy lifting, and engineered transport, had signed the largest project in its history with Tengizchevroil ("TCO", the "Client") in 2016. The Client has entrusted Sarens with undertaking the land transportation and installation of the Pre-Assembled Units, Pre-Assembled Racks, and associated oversize equipment required for their US$ 36.8 bn Future Growth and Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP-WPMP).

TCO, which is jointly owned by Chevron (50%), ExxonMobil (25%), KazMunay Gas (20%), and LukAgro (5%), is the operator of the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan. The work being carried out is designed to increase the well pressures and the production capacity of the existing Tengiz refinery, with the new plant being built on a modular basis incorporating PAUs fabricated in Korea and Italy, and PARs fabricated within the Caspian.

Carl Sarens, Director Technical Solutions, Projects & Engineering, commented, "We have dispatched around 250 specialists to handle the overland transportation and on-site installation of the pre-assembled units and racks and associated oversize equipment. For the overland transportation operations, Sarens already had more than 900 axle lines available in Kazakhstan. At the beginning of 2018, however, we saw an upcoming peak in the required logistical capacities as of the beginning of 2018. We therefore had to urgently increase our capacities to avoid problems in meeting the project schedule. Goldhofer delivered a convincing response with top quality at very short notice and absolutely punctual shipments."

The equipment order was placed with Goldhofer in mid-May 2018. It comprised 68 axle lines of THP/SL and 24 of the PST/SL type plus four 280 PS PowerPacks.

Jan Sarens, Group Equipment Trade Manager, said, "Goldhofer was the only heavy-duty module manufacturer who could guarantee punctual delivery of high-grade axle lines in such a quantity within such a short time. As a result we were able to meet our contractual obligations towards our client, and Goldhofer was able to consolidate its position as a long-serving transport technology partner of the Sarens Group."
